THE BLOG
It's my hope that you are both encouraged and challenged by the words below.
What is TRUTH?
You and I must ask ourselves who gets to decide what is true. Is truth objective? Subjective? Does truth change? Is it my truth and your truth, or is there simply THE TRUTH? Culture says to speak your truth, but Jesus says I am the truth!
Is Jesus the ONLY way?
You see, the enemy has always attempted to fight against the truth of scripture, and as more time passes culture and Jesus seem to be drifting further and further apart. Because of this, we as Christians regularly have to look at what culture teaches and compare it to scripture. If we aren't careful, we'll end up swallowing the doctrine of today as truth.
More than a Post
Like many of us, I’ve been watching the news and reading articles about the shootings in El Paso, TX and Dayton, OH. I have many reactions and emotions as I’ve read about the latest mass shooting. I’m angry at the gunman. Broken-hearted for the victims and their families. Confused and conflicted about what to do.
What do you do when you know God can, but He doesn’t?
But just because God can do the impossible, just because He can heal, just because He can restore marriages, just because He can bless your finances...Just because He can do all these things, it doesn’t mean He always will.
Half Jesus
In much of the world today there seems to be a new gospel being believed. It more humanism that it is Christian. This new gospel has been around for centuries, but once again it’s gaining influence and acceptance. This new gospel is more about doing what you want, than it’s about obeying Jesus. It’s more about God AGREEING with me than me SUBMITTING to Him.
What should I do when I've been hurt?
I’ve had my fair share of people doing stupid things to me over the course of my life. I’m sure you have too. Asking people if you have ever been hurt, offended or mistreated, is like asking someone if you went to the bathroom today. Sure it happened, but that doesn’t mean we feel like talking about it.
This is Redemption
On November 26th, 2017, I had the opportunity to speak at the St. Peters campus of my church Twin Rivers. I always love the chance to speak to people about Jesus, but this day was extra special for me. This day was a day I got to experience God’s redemption.
What MUST you do to be saved?
There is nothing more important than how you answer this question. I know that's heavy huh? But, if you and I are eternally separated from God and destined for hell then knowing what we MUST do to be saved is outrageously important!
Leadership: A SERVANT and a STEWARD
Paul was concerned with how those he was leading viewed him. He wanted those under his care and under his leadership to see him as a SERVANT of Jesus and as a STEWARD of God’s mysteries, or God’s word.
What to do when life knocks you down (Part 2)
David was consistently hearing taunts from people about his situation. I’m sure the constant nagging was not only annoying, like a little brother making stupid faces at you, I’m sure it made him doubt. It’s important when you’re in a difficult situation to put a massive filter on who you allow to speak into your life and situation.
What to do when life knocks you down (Part 1)
Too often we place our hope in the situation getting better or in another person fixing our problem. We tell ourselves things will be better in a few months. If we can just hold on until then, we’ll be ok.
One Key to Maturity
I was recently thinking about our nation and how divided it is. It seems every single day there is something new that has people upset and yelling at each other. Whether it’s a speech, a viral video, a video game, a politician, it seems that everyone is screaming at each other.
This is My Story
From a young age, I had a terrible self-image and never really liked who I was. I always thought I was unattractive and overweight. These mindsets caused me to battle depression and suicidal thoughts. As young as ten years old, I contemplated suicide.
