THE BLOG
It's my hope that you are both encouraged and challenged by the words below.
Can I be a gay Christian?
This topic is highly debated in the world today, and there are plenty of voices who loudly proclaim to speak for God. When answering the question about homosexuality, we can’t look inward for answers, and we shouldn’t take a poll from culture; as Christians, we have to look to scripture alone.
God’s design for SEX and MARRIAGE
In a society that celebrates sexual liberation, it got me thinking… What would change in our world if everyone followed God’s design for sex and marriage? The answer is way more shocking than you may realize.
Stop judging me!
Have you ever pointed out someone doing or saying something wrong and been met with the Christian TRUMP card? No, that’s not referring to our former president. I’m talking about the “You can’t judge me” card. It gets thrown around more often than “God told me you’re the one” at a Christian youth camp and passed around as freely as that bread at Texas Roadhouse.
I’m a Christian, and I don’t cuss a little
Is it just me, or does the amount of Christians cussing seem to be growing? And it’s not just your casual church attendee, either. From leaders to pastors to people who claim to love God, it seems to be a growing trend. Online, it’s even become a joke, “Yeah, I’m a Christian, but I cuss a little.”
Finding the REAL Jesus in a world of FAKES
Jesus loved everyone; He wasn’t judgmental! The Jesus I serve would never ______________ (fill in the blank). Maybe you’ve heard these or similar phrases recently. I know I have.
Overcoming What Will Kill Your Calling
Whether you know it or not, if you’re a follower of Jesus, you are called to ministry! Bold statement, huh? Well, let’s read 2 Corinthians 5:18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation. There it is! You are called to ministry.
Confronting the SPIRIT of this Age
I have this growing concern for the church. It’s been a concern of mine for years, but it continues to intensify. And my concern is that the spirit of this age has crept into the church and has been slowly leading people away from truth. This spirit is sneaky. This spirit is deceptive. And this spirit has been using half-truths and seemingly biblical ideas to deceive many.
Called to Ministry? Be sure you count the cost.
Before you jump into the ministry, you should know the cost and you have to be willing to pay that cost. Ministry can look flashy and fun when all you see are the lights, the stage, and the social media posts. But ministry is tough. Ministry is costly.
Cancel the Cancel Culture
Here’s my issue with the cancel culture… it’s in complete opposition to Jesus and how He asks us to live. Cancel Culture wants to cancel you by holding on to and exposing your past. Jesus wants to hold on to you while canceling your past and making you new.
Wisdom When You're Stuck
Many of us find ourselves in seasons and situations where we feel stuck or stagnant. We’re just not moving forward like we want to be. For you it may be your marriage has stalled out, your profession isn’t progressing like you want it to or it’s in your relationship with God. Wherever you feel stuck. Wherever you feel like you’re not moving forward, I want to help you!
The Key to Growth
Have you ever met someone that was just full of themselves? Scripture would call this pride. It’s such a turn-off. Prideful people have this repellant factor to them. You just don’t want to be around them. In contrast, have you ever met someone who was humble? How refreshing!
Hit Your Goals. Guaranteed.
I learned something unexpected last year. Don’t worry- this blog isn’t about health and fitness (although it can help you in that area). I learned that if I want to achieve a goal, I need to look no further than the pattern I live by. By changing the pattern of my life, I met my goals. Like Adam, I can just about guarantee your results. We just have to find the right pattern to help you hit your goals!
Abortion: It's more simple than we make it
Imagine a law that allows Americans to kill other Americans. This law makes murder acceptable to the public, defended by many, and celebrated as morally good. Now imagine this law actively leads to the death of 600,000+ Americans per year. This is no fictional story, this is abortion.
Why I didn't marry my soulmate
Yes, I know I baited you into clicking on this blog with my catchy title. Before you label me the least romantic person alive and begin a prayer chain for my poor wife, let me explain. I didn’t marry my soulmate, because there is no such thing.
Create Your NEW Normal
Many of our routines have been shot. Life has changed. Things we used to spend our time doing, such as shopping, going out, travel, etc. have all changed. This unique season is giving us the opportunity to reset our lives and re-establish our priorities. We can create our NEW NORMAL.
But I Prayed the Prayer...
Many people when asked, would call themselves Christians, but when you press them further and begin to ask them more questions, their commitment to Christ seems to be very shallow and even nonexistent.
When the Broken-Hearted Lead
Recently, there was a pastor who passed away due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. My heart breaks as I fight back tears for those we’ve lost, their families who must continue on in the wake of the tragedy, as well as the many others still fighting their battles. Ministry isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s one of the toughest, loneliest and most stressful professions in the world today.
Finding Contentment
This quarantine has been so interesting for me. It’s shown me my weaknesses, my quirks have been highlighted and my level of contentment (or lack thereof) has been on constant display…
In the Chaos, Continue to Serve
In the crazy days we are currently living in, it would be easy to stop thinking of others, instead only thinking of ourselves and the loved ones around us. But this posture is in exact opposition to how Jesus lived and the lifestyle of a Christian. In reality, when everyone is hiding, the church steps up.
What Is God Saying in the Middle of COVID-19?
Like all of you I’ve been watching the news and have heard so much about the COVID-19 virus. I know more about this virus than I ever wanted to. I know it’s symptoms, it’s source and all the conspiracy theories surrounding it. It’s been a wild couple weeks and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all. It’s in the chaotic times that we need to pause the news, pause social media and listen to what God is saying.
